The Kedarnath temple opens at 4:00 AM and closes at 9:00 PM. Due to the huge number of devotees coming in for blessings, the temple timings were extended.

The Kedarnath temple opens up at 6:00 AM and till 3:00 PM. Then the temple closes for 2 hours and opens for darshan at 5:00 PM.

Kedarnath in Winters
When winter arrives in November, Kedarnath receives heavy snowfall, closing all the routes. The temple, including the holy idol of Lord Shiva, closes for six months. This idol travels from Garhwal (Kedarkhand) to Ukhimath, and returns to Kedarnath in the first week of May. At this time, the gates of the temple welcome pilgrims from all over India. They come for a holy visit. This ritual of closing and reopening takes place every year between Bhai Dooj (October-November) and Akshaya Tritiya (April-May). During the closure, the temple is covered with snow while worship continues at Ukhimath.
