History and Inside The Yamunotri Temple

The Yamunotri temple stands tall with its yellow cone-like structure and lovely red lining at its peak. King Sudarshan Shah was the first to erect this temple back in 1839. Nevertheless, an earthquake caused significant damage. That’s when Queen Gularia Devi stepped up. She renovated it during the 19th century. But, the temple had previously faced two destructive situations due to snow and floods before this fix-up.

When you walk into the temple, you’re greeted by the holy image of Goddess Yamuna. It’s crafted from black marble, adorned with distinct designs. Additionally, two stunning springs catch your eye – Surya Kund and Gouri Kund. They flow with warm and cool water, respectively.
